Tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are a class of medicine known as calcineurin inhibitors which are typically helpful in treating eczema. Although tacrolimus and pimecrolimus have no license for application on skin to treat vitiligo. But they can help restore the skin pigment in children and adults with vitiligo.  However, there can be certain side effects of using tacrolimus and pimecrolimus including:

  • Making skin extra sensitive to sunlight
  • Facial skin irritation and redness
  • A painful or burning sensation after application of the creams to the skin
