Sleep history
The sleep specialist will ask the patient for obtaining the detailed sleep history. A portion of sleep history involves filling in the Epworth Sleepiness Scale. The Epworth Sleepiness Scale uses a number of short questions to determine the degree of sleepiness. For example, the patient might indicate on a numbering scale that how likely he is able to doze off in certain situations like resting down after lunch.
