Catnip is a common herb in many gardens, and it can be much more than just an attractive addition to the landscape. Besides being popular, it can work wonders on bug bites! It has been known for centuries that it is an effective remedy for mosquito bites, bee stings, and spider bites. (4)
To use catnip as a treatment for bug bites, simply crush up some of the leaves and apply them directly to the affected area. This will help reduce swelling and itchiness associated with insect bites. Additionally, you can make a tea out of catnip by boiling it in water. Once cooled down slightly, douse a cloth or cotton pad in the tea and apply to your skin like a compress. After about 15 minutes or so you should start feeling relief from itchiness and inflammation!
