Edema
Edema is a similar condition to ascites. The difference is that it develops in the whole body’s tissues. This happens when the tiny blood vessels (capillaries) in your body leak and cause build-up of fluid in the neighboring tissues.
Edema anywhere in the body gives a swollen or puffy appearance. People with chronic liver disease such as hepatitis C can experience edema in the legs, ankles, and feet.
