Common Causes,Signs and Symptoms of Hepatitis C That Require Immediate Attention

Breast Enlargement In Men

Development of gynecomastia (breast enlargement) is often associated with low circulatory levels of testosterone in the blood. Hepatitis C infection is a major risk factor for this condition and may lead to male breast enlargement due to the infection itself or as a side effect of HCV treatment.

In most cases with gynecomastia, there are no other associated symptoms like pain or tenderness in the breasts. The patients are, however, worried because of cosmetic reasons and occasional seeping of milk-like secretions. Many patients with this breast condition have improved after HCV treatment. In some unresolved cases, injections and skin patches of testosterone have been safely used to treat this condition.
