Lung Volume Reduction Surgery
A lung volume reduction surgery involves the removal of a portion of lung tissues suffering from disease, and then joins together the remainder portion of lung tissues. Performing lung reduction surgery may relieve the pressure on the muscles involving in the breathing and help in the improvement of lung tissue elasticity. The results of the surgery are quite promising and not all patients having emphysema are candidates for lung volume reduction therapy.
