Sexual and erectile dysfunction is a potential possibility in patients with multiple sclerosis. Primary causes of the development of erectile dysfunction in patients with multiple sclerosis include factors such as the physiological impairment, association with lesions in the cortex, and lesions in the spinal cord. The physiological impairments arising due to multiple sclerosis can result in the numbness of the genitals which is medically known as paresthesias. Paresthesias directly affects the genitals by causing difficulty in initiating an erection, maintaining an erection, and loss of libido in men.
