Eating a bland diet

Eating a bland diet

Eating less spicy food and meals with a higher ability to digest easily are good options for treating some symptoms of influenza, such as vomiting and nausea. By eating bland foods, it becomes easier for the stomach to digest food and as the body is already going through stress by fighting against the viruses eating bland foods is a relief. Some of the easier foods on the stomach include gelatin, soup or broth, boiled potatoes, crackers, bananas, toast, applesauce, rice, cooked cereals, grilled chicken, and electrolyte-rich drinks. As the body is already draining from energy, the body needs simple carbohydrates and avoids the foods which might irritate the stomach. Try to avoid foods like milk, cheese, spicy foods, meats, caffeine, alcohol, fried and fatty foods.
