According to a study by national institute of mental health, it is not always effective to use the combination of antidepressants with mood stabilizers because it might trigger the manic symptoms in some patients. While some experts suggest that the use of antidepressant medications for longer periods can increase the frequency of depressive episodes and initiate a mood destabilizing effect in some patients.
