Antidepressant medications
Although the use of antidepressant medications are traditionally for the treatment of depressive episodes of bipolar disorder but the use of these medications is becoming a lot more controversial. The researchers are calling out the efficacy and safety of antidepressant medications. However, it is important to use antidepressants with care. Growing research suggest that antidepressants are not good enough for bipolar depression. According to a study by national institute of mental health, it is not always effective to use the combination of antidepressants with mood stabilizers because it might trigger the manic symptoms in some patients. While some experts suggest that the use of antidepressant medications for longer periods can increase the frequency of depressive episodes and initiate a mood destabilizing effect in some patients.
