While surgery is an effective option for some symptoms of Parkinson’s disease but there are many risks which associate with surgical procedures and their aftercare. Surgery is a viable option for patients who respond better to levodopa as the symptoms have a potentially higher chance of improving. At present, there are two surgical treatments for people with Parkinson’s disease, which includes a surgical procedure of delivering gel formulation of levodopa and carbidopa via small intestine tube and the other one is deep brain stimulation (DBS). However, the healthcare professionals reserve surgical treatment for only those patients of Parkinson’s disease who suffers from severe motor fluctuations or those suffer exhaustion from medical treatments of tremors.
