Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

In this therapy, the dermatologists apply a topical agent to make lesions sensitive to light or inject the agent into the tumor and allow it to stay for some time to complete the absorption. The dermatologists then use a pulsed-dye-laser that destroys BCC by causing a reaction. After the whole procedure, the patient must avoid sunlight for at least two days because the UV exposure will enhance medication activation and result in severe sunburns.
