Bulimia Nervosa Medications
Antidepressants are the most common medications prescribed for treating bulimia nervosa. When used along with psychotherapy, these drugs are shown to help reduce the bulimia symptoms.
Fluoxetine (Prozac) is the only antidepressant approved by the FDA for the treatment of bulimia. It belongs SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) group of antidepressants and shown to help patients with multiple eating disorders – even if they are not depressed.
