Metatarsal surgery

This surgery is done to treat bunions, to re-align the metatarsal bone or to remove calluses. During the procedure, the patient is asked to lie on his back and is given anesthesia. Meanwhile, the surgeon makes an incision near the targeted metatarsal bone. The bone is then either re-aligned or repositioned. The realigned or repositioned bone is then secured with the help of screws. The incision is then closed with the help of stitches. Some common side effects of metatarsal surgery include:

  • Swelling
  • Increase in pain
  • Prolong healing process
