Plantar fasciotomy
It is the surgery that is performed to release tension in the bottom of the foot by detaching the plantar fascia. During the surgery, the patient is sedated. There are two ways in which this surgery can be performed. It can either be an open surgery or an endoscopic surgery. During the open surgery large cuts are made by the doctor and the plantar fascia is removed from the heel. During the endoscopic procedure, the plantar fascia is removed with the help of a camera and a knife. Some common side effects of plantar fasciotomy include:
- Heel pain, even after surgery
- Slow healing process
