The prescription medications are the ones the doctors recommend after seeing a particular case of athlete’s foot. When the patient is suffering from severe symptoms of athlete’s foot, the doctors recommend the following of these medications to treat the disease:

  • Oral antifungal medications like itraconazole, terbinafine or prescription-strength fluconazole
  • Topical, prescription-strength miconazole or clotrimazole
  • Oral antibiotics are also in the prescription if there is the presence of any bacterial infections due to the open sores and raw skin
  • Topical steroid medications to reduce the inflammation from all the scratching and rash
