Extreme itching around the anal area
In the prolapsed type of hemorrhoids, the internal hemorrhoids prolapse and produce mucus, which results in itching the anus and anal area. The mucus production continues if the hemorrhoids stay prolapsed, then there the itching continues as the mucus irritates the sensitive skin of anal lining. There is even greater itching if the mucus combines with the stool because then the mucus disturbs the entire rectum lining too.
