Although hemorrhoids can go on their own, a small percentage of people do require surgical procedures in order to treat the hemorrhoids. In the case of larger hemorrhoids, the doctors perform one of these surgical procedures:
Hemorrhoidectomy or hemorrhoid removal surgery
The surgeon removes the excess tissue in hemorrhoid, which causes bleeding. The doctors use local anaesthesia along with sedation or spinal anaesthesia to perform hemorrhoidectomy. Hemorrhoid removal surgery is the most effective method to treat the severe and recurring types of hemorrhoids appropriately. There might be some complications after performing the surgery, such as difficulty in emptying the bladder, which can cause urinary infection. The urinary infection complication usually occurs due to the spinal anaesthesia.
