This is another approach for the treatment of AMD. This process is similar to kidney dialysis in which the patient’s blood is removed from a vein in one arm, and then it is returned to another vein in the other arm. The aim is the removal of substances that can contribute to AMD. These substances include lipids and inflammatory proteins. Clinical trials have not determined the effectiveness of this treatment.
