Multiple Myeloma: Definition , Symptoms , Causes , Diagnosis , Types , and Treatment

Anemia

As we discussed earlier, that cancerous cells in the bone marrow interfere with the production of red blood cells that results in anemia. Hemoglobin is a protein present in the red blood cells and carries oxygen throughout the body. During the anemic condition, the hemoglobin levels in the body go below normal, which results in dizziness, shortness of breath, fatigue, and weakness. Doctors use several therapies such as vitamin B12, folate, and iron supplementation and medications known as red blood cell growth factors to treat anemia in patients with multiple myeloma.
