Heat Rash (Overview, Symptoms, Types , Causes ,Diagnosis, Home Remedies , Treatment and Prevention)

Heat Rash Causes:

It is one of the main jobs of skin to protect the inside of the body from the attack of foreign agents that might cause damage to the body. Our skin helps the internal organs of the body from the infections, chemicals, and the ultraviolet light rays that might be damaging to the body. Skin also helps the body in regulation of internal body temperature by producing sweat in hot and humid temperatures. The body has the way of cooling down itself on its own by producing sweat. The sweat glands present beneath the surface of the skin produce sweat, and this sweat transfers from the sweat glands to the skin pores through sweat ducts. The sweat glands are present all over the body parts except for a few small areas like toenails, ear canal, and fingernails.

The sweat glands are present in the deepest layer of skin, which is known as the dermis, and the brain has specific temperature control centers that control this whole sweat production process. When this system of sweat production dysfunctions, then there is the appearance of heat rashes on the skin. When the sweat ducts in the hair and skin become clogged due to the entrapping of debris and dirt in the ducts, the sweat does not get to the surface of the skin. So when the sweat does not reach the surface of the skin, then there is no cooling down, and then the sweat gets entrapped below the surface of the skin. The clogging of sweat ducts causes mild inflammation, and this inflammation turns into tiny red bumps.

The heat rash usually burns and gives the itchy sensation on the areas affected by heat rash. But there is no definitive explanation behind the cause of developing heat rashes. It is also uncertain why some people do not get heat rashes while others do not get heat rash. The excessive sweating happening due to spending time in hot and humid weather causes blockage of sweat gland ducts and which ultimately results in no perspiration at all. The blockage of the sweat glands might occur due to many reasons and following are some reasons and conditions which cause blockage of sweat gland ducts:

Tight clothing:

Tight clothing does not allow the passage of air through the covered body parts. When there is no passage of air, then there is no room for the sweat to evaporate from the surface of covered body areas. The excessive sweat in the sweat gland ducts starts trapping in the ducts and result in the development of inflammation in the skin layers. The inflammation leads to the development of tiny red bumps on the surface of the skin, thus causing heat rashes.
