PET Scan
This is another scanning technique widely used to detect cancers. A radioactive substance is injected into the body. Thanks to the property of cancer cells to preferentially absorb the dye in comparison to the normal cells. The scanning technique can then make an image of the mass which absorbs the dye. This method not only detects cancer cell mass, but also is an accurate indicator of the location of the tumor.
