A concussion mostly develops unexpectedly by a motor vehicle collision or sports injury so it is quite tough to prevent its advent. But there are some commonsense precautionary measures that you can take to minimize the possibility of a traumatic brain injury like a concussion. [7]

Following is the description of some ways to prevent the advent of a concussion:

Wear protective gear

Taking part in high-contact and high-risk sports such as hockey, football, rugby, soccer, and boxing can increase the possibility of getting a traumatic brain injury. Other sports and games like snowboarding, skateboarding, rollerblading, or horseback riding are also a possible threat to the health of your brain. It is essential to wear protective gear like padding, headgear, mouth and eye guard pieces to help you in safeguarding against traumatic brain injuries. Moreover, wearing the protective gear that fits you well is equally important as some incidents of concussions also appear due to loosely-fitted protective gears.

You can also wear a bike helmet to lower the risk of concussions or other head injuries by almost 85%. There is also another new device in a C shape which is a collar-like device known as Q-collar. Athletes can wear the device as it applies compressive force on neck muscles and maximizes the blood volume to limit the movement of the brain. The collar limits the movement of the brain resulting due to the hits to the head to make sure that there is no whiplash jerk to the head.
