Types of multiple sclerosis

The frequent and rigorous trials on multiple sclerosis patients by a number of surgeons, oncologists, and other doctors suggest that there are four main types of multiple sclerosis. These four types of courses of multiple sclerosis help in the diagnosis and treatment of the patients by indicating the severity and level of the condition in the patient. The MRI scanning of the brain and spinal cord in the patients helps in identifying and classifying the type of the disease the patient is suffering from. The complete neurological examination aids in the diagnosis of the type of multiple sclerosis. Although the symptoms of the patient with multiple sclerosis might develop with the passage of time, if we identify the type of multiple sclerosis, we are able to control the condition of the patient.

Clinically isolated syndrome (CIS)

Some patients usually experience the first neurological event before the proper diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, and this neurological event is known as a clinically isolated syndrome (CIS). This event of clinically isolated syndrome lasts almost for at least one whole day with the symptoms of either having a single lesion, i.e., monofocal or more than one lesions, i.e., multifocal in the central nervous system.
