Infertility
The physiological impairment of the sexual organs in both males and females increases substantially in the multiple sclerosis patients due to the development of lesions in the spinal cord and cortex. The lesions are developing and progressing with time in cortex cause the numbness or paresthesias, which directly affects the genitals in patients. There is the loss of libido, reduced lubrication in the vagina in females, which causes painful intercourse. Male patients face huge difficulty in initiating and maintain sexual arousal during intercourse. Moreover, the frequent use of certain drugs that the person uses for the treatment of multiple sclerosis also acts as contraception. For this reason, the doctors avoid the use of any such medications by the women of childbearing age.
