Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) symptoms may include decreased urination, excessive thirst and dry mouth. Not everyone with HUS experience symptoms of decreased urination. Decreased urination is when their kidneys aren’t filtering properly, so they aren’t making enough waste to urinate out of the body. This can be life-threatening, as not enough waste will be excreted from the body. When you see changes in urine color and diminished urine output, contact your medical professional immediately. If your child has symptoms of decreased urination as a HUS symptom, it may make sense to see a doctor because early treatment can improve chances of recovery and prevent further complications.
