To evaluate the degree of causation of chemical carcinogens in brain tumors, a study was designed for rodents. A number of compounds are hypothesized to increase the chance of brain tumor development. These include

  • Vinyl chloride
  • N-nitroso compounds
  • Compounds in cigarette smoke
  • Petroleum products

Although there has been no definite link suggested between these chemicals and brain tumor, because of variables like, personal immunity, degree and time of exposure, health and age of the study group etc. However, there has been an important hint in the form of research which shows that brain tumors and other types of cancers are significantly a common occurrence in people who work in rubber factories, plastic industry or in drug preparation.
