Stage 0 breast cancer

A person with stage 0 breast cancer is not invasive. This means the cancer is in its primary place, has not spread elsewhere in the body and the cancer cells remain in the breast where they began to grow. Such cancer is also known as in situ ductal carcinoma (DCIS) or noninvasive breast cancer. This means the cancerous cells are still confined in the milk ducts.

Early diagnosis of breast cancer in stage 0 means a patient can receive prompt care. That may prevent cancer from becoming an invasive form of breast cancer.
