It is not easy to believe that you can get a deeply spiced and fully flavored chicken tikka with a few spices , especially turmeric to give its special warmth. Chicken tikka masala with turmeric in it makes it a super meal to impart energy, proteins, and antioxidant properties at the same time.

Ingredients

Following is the checklist for the ingredients you need:

  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground turmeric
  • 1 ½ pounds skinless, boneless chicken thighs
  • 5 medium chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 ½ tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 ½ cups chopped yellow onion
  • 2 tablespoons canned no-salt-added tomato paste
  • 1 ½ teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup unsalted chicken stock
  • 1 can tomato puree
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Method

  • Start by adding chicken in a large pot having oil in it. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes and add ginger, garlic, and onion by stirring continuously. Now add turmeric, tomato paste, cayenne, and garam masala and cook until the fragrance of spices comes. Bring the chicken to a simmer by stirring in stock, salt, pepper, cream, and tomato puree. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly and serves.
