Stroke
Stroke

Stroke is the single most common identified cause of epilepsy in the senior population. Stroke is caused by decreased blood supply to the brain tissue, secondary to a blood clot. An immediate seizure after stroke does not necessarily means epilepsy. It is the repeated episodes of seizures in the background history of stroke which is identified as stroke. Most commonly, the hemorrhagic stroke, which involves bleeding, is associated with epilepsy. Brain injury due to stroke in the cerebral region, which forms the greater part of the brain and controls essential motor activities is more closely associated with a diagnosis of epilepsy in later stages.
