Pyridostigmine

The first line of therapy against myasthenia gravis is pyridostigmine by giving the patients a tablet of this medication that helps with the better transmission of signals between skeletal muscles and the nerves. Pyridostigmine greatly reduces the weakness of muscles but the effectct of medication only lasts for a couple of hours so that patient needs to take it after intervals throughout the day. Whereas in certain people, pyridostigmine is the only medication they need to keep in check their symptoms. There are some side effects such as diarrhea, feeling nauseous, stomach cramps, and muscle twitching resulting due to the medication. It is important to report the occurrence of any of these symptoms as it will help the doctors to prescribe you other medications with lesser or no side effects.
