Another potential mechanism which appears in the case of pulmonary embolism patients is excessive sweating. Some patients experience excessive sweating and night sweats due to an increase in blood pressure which indicates that the blood vessels are pushing blood too hard to counteract the blood clot blockage due to pulmonary embolism. While in other cases, the blood clots cause direct stimulation of cytokines on sweat glands thus leading to excess sweating and night sweats.
