Lightheadedness or dizziness can occur due to the blood clots make it hard for the blood to flow easily through the lungs in patients of pulmonary embolism. However, dizziness can result due to many situations and some of which can be temporary and not of a serious nature. Another reason for lightheadedness in patients of pulmonary embolism is due to the lower levels of oxygen in blood, which creates a situation of hypoxemia in the brain. Diagnosis of pulmonary embolism is hard in some patients because sometimes the older people forget to mention their symptoms of lightheadedness or dizziness. The blood clots lodging in lungs can cause clogging in arteries and increase the risk of dizziness even more.
