Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine, a condition in which the spine is curved to one side of the body. It. This condition is normally diagnosed in early childhood or early adolescence. It can have multiple types, and curvature can occur in any part of the spine; the upper spine and lower back are the most commonly affected regions and get highly affected.

Scoliosis is not always noticeable, but sometimes the body leans to one side, and uneven shoulders can be observed due to the spine’s curve. If the curve is move-in “S” or “C” shape, then you probably have this condition.  In scoliosis entire skeletal system is affected, which includes ribs, spine, and pelvis. Due to the abnormal shape of the spine, even the hormonal, digestive, and the central nervous system can be affected. Scoliosis has been observed to occur in women more than men. It Is a progressive condition and continues to progress even after the skeleton has reached its maturity.

There are various scoliosis types, but if these types are categorized in general terms, they are called structural scoliosis and nonstructural scoliosis.

Structural scoliosis

Structural scoliosis is the most common form of scoliosis involving spinal rotation and curvature of the spine. The spinal structure is affected by this type of scoliosis, and it is considered permanent unless spinal treatment is received.

Non-structural scoliosis

It is temporary scoliosis and involves a side-to-side curvature of the spine. As there is no spinal rotation in this type, therefore, spine structure is normal.
