Muscular dystrophy

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a muscle disorder arising as a result of a lack of dystrophin protein. An individual with Duchenne muscular dystrophy can suffer from scoliosis when they cease walking. The cause behind this complication is the weakness of paraspinal muscles with results in trunk and body position changes and promotes the development of progressive collapsing scoliosis. Increase muscle weakness causes the progression of curvature; the individual finds it difficult to do normal tasks. The individual cannot sit comfortably and may suffer from a deteriorating respiratory system.
