Exercises for scoliosis

If the person is experiencing pain due to spine curvature, therapy can help relieve the pain. There are so many exercises that a therapist can recommend to strengthen your back, increase flexibility, and prevent injury. Exercises usually don’t correct the curvature, but help to reduce the discomfort. The correct exercise depends upon the area of the curve. People with lumbar scoliosis need to focus on lower back exercises while the people with thoracic scoliosis require shoulder exercises. Some of the exercises recommended by therapists include

Pelvic tilts

This exercise helps in stretching of tight muscles of the hips and lower back; the exercise is as follows;

Lay your back on the floor with your feet flat and knees bent

Now tighten the stomach while flattening the back on the floor

Hold yourself for a few seconds while breathing normally

Now release and do small tilts

Repeat the set
