Heartburn

Heartburn is another symptom of sleep. Almost 60% of the people facing sleep apnea also have chronic acid reflux. This acidic reflux is also known as gestroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Acid reflux usually occurs when lower oesophageal sphincter fails to close, and the area remains open, making gastric acid backflow into the esophagus. This returning of gastric juice back into the esophagus is acid reflux. It results in a hurt burn, chest pain, and sour throat of mouth. So the symptoms of heartburn in sleep apnea can be a cause of acid reflux in the body. Studies have illustrated that this sleep disturbance can include acid reflux, and this acid also impairs sleep.
