Thinning of bones- People with CF are vulnerable to osteoporosis and are at higher risk of developing thin bones. Osteopenia is a disease in which the bones have low minerals, and they are week, which tends to weaken the bones and lead to osteoporosis. Bones become weaker and fragile. The person experiences joint pain, muscle pain, and arthritis. There is no age restriction for osteopenia and osteoporosis, but it has been seen in adults in people with CF.
