Stomach Infections
Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium which invades the stomach, and causes gastric inflammation. Long term presence of these bacteria leads to stomach ulcers. The long term inflammation and the associated processes of cell death and regeneration, causes mutations in a cell’s DNA, which can lead to stomach cancer. The symptoms of H. Pylori infection include:
- Pain in the abdomen
- Nausea
- Bloating
Epstein-Barr virus is another agent that can prompt cancerous transformation in stomach cells.
