Over the years, studies have shown how limited or uncontrolled consumption of alcohol can have harsh impacts on the human body. Ethanol is the major component of alcoholic drinks. After ethanol is consumed, it is converted into aldehyde which further reacts to form acetate. The acetaldehyde found in alcohol belongs to group 1 of carcinogens. This acetaldehyde causes permanent damage to the gene and promotes genetic instability. This gene instability can cause mutation in the DNA structure and cause stomach cancer. People with alcohol consumption habits should join the rehabilitation center as well as counseling classes, for giving up on alcohol abuse and prevention of risks that come with it.
