Pernicious anemia

The threat of stomach cancer has increased among the patients of pernicious anemia. Vitamin B12 is necessary for the proper functioning of the body. It keeps the nerve and blood cells healthy. It helps in the proper replication of DNA during cell division. In pernicious anemia, the body is not able to absorb vitamin B12 properly from food. Parietal cells are responsible for the synthesis of gastric acid, and vitamin B12 absorption, but due to autoimmune atrophic gastritis the body starts destructing the parietal cells, which in the long run damages the DNA and causes stomach cancer.
