Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is a progressive disease in which the vessel walls are hardened with deposits of fats, cellular debris, or cigarette smoke, etc. Thickened walls are more prone to give rise to the development of clots in the vessels. These clots can block blood flow regionally or may dislocate and impede flow at a distant site.
