Prolonged bleeding

One significant symptom in severe cases of thrombocytopenia is prolonged bleeding. Thrombocytopenia does not cause bleeding until the condition is very severe. The platelet count has been decreased to a dangerous level in which case internal and external bleeding occurs and does not stop. Because of the low platelet count, they cannot prevent the bleeding, which results in prolonged bleeding.
