Steroids
If the cause of thrombocytopenia is the antibodies that are destroying the platelets, then platelet transfusion will not be a good option of treatments. In such a scenario, the patient will probably be treated with steroids such as prednisolone. A strong dosage of steroids is given at first that can irritate the stomach. Therefore, another drug is also given to protect the stomach, and when the platelets are in control, the dosage is lowered.
