Alzheimer disease can make the person forget to even eat or drink properly which might cause malnutrition and dehydration. However, the patients might be unable to consume any food because of the difficulty in swallowing.  The patients in the later stages of Alzheimer have refused to drink or eat, which is not a mindful refusal. Some of the symptoms of severe dehydration include dizziness, a dry mouth, sleepiness, irritability and headaches.
