Nausea is a condition in which patient feels sick and vomiting is expulsion of food or liquids from the stomach through mouth. Frequent vomiting can be hazardous for health as it causes dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. It can also cause inhalation of food or liquids which can cause aspiration pneumonia and choking in extreme conditions. Talk with your cancer team about cause and treatment of nausea and vomiting especially in these conditions

  • If patient has inhaled vomitus
  • If patient is vomiting more than 3 times an hour for 3 or more hours
  • If there is blood in vomitus
  • Vomiting accompanied by dizziness and unconsciousness
  • Severe weight loss history
