Colon cancer is more prevalent among smokers. Smokers are at 50% more risk of getting colon cancer. Smoking releases harmful carcinogens in the blood. These carcinogens contain free radicals, which can cause changes in the DNA, which result in abnormal growth of cells. These abnormal tissue form polyps and increase the risk of cancer.
