Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy is a type of screening test. It is the most accurate way to detect colon cancer. It consists of a long tube with a camera and a small light bulb attached. The doctors can view the entire colon and rectum with the help of this tube. The camera shows the presence and size of polyps and other abnormal tissues. The tube is inserted through the anus. Biopic samples can also be extracted for the further screening and conduction of other test for cancer detection. During the procedure, the air is pumped inside the colon so the tube can move efficiently inside the colon. Sometimes, the patient is also mildly sedated.
