Unexplained fatigue
People with colon cancer feel extreme body fatigue mainly due to the cancer cells using extra energy and troublesome symptoms of colon cancer. Electrolyte imbalance and loss of nutrients due to prolonged diarrhea is another cause of fatigue in patients with colon cancer. Prolonged sessions of chemotherapy can also cause extreme weakness and tiredness. It impacts on physical and social function, psychological distress, and quality-of-life. This constant fatigue can be very stressful as it fails to go away with rest and medications. Visiting a physician when you are experiencing fatigue can help determine the cause. Proper treatment of underlying cause is necessary to deal with this problem.
