Red meat
Consuming red and processed meat increases the risk of colon cancer. Red meat contains haem, which gives the meat its red color. A metabolic product of haem, a compound called N-nitroso, is seen to be responsible for colon cancer. Processed meats are unhealthy because the process required to preserve them is dangerous. Moreover, the ways to cook these meats imparts carcinogenic properties in the meat leading towards cancer.
