Some people have the faulty genes in which they get soft, yellow-coloured lumps or lesions forming on their skin. This condition is known as familial hypercholesterolemia(FH). And it can pass to generations. Furthermore, the persons having immediate family members having heart diseases are at higher risk of getting high cholesterol. For a few people, the higher levels of cholesterol in blood runs in the family, and their bodies make more cholesterol than the ordinary person.
